Career Counseling and assessments
Career counseling is a service that helps people begin, change, or advance their careers. At Journeys, this includes one-on-one conversations between a counselor and a career seeker, as well as assessments, activities, and projects designed to help career seekers make the most of their strengths.
Career counseling is for all ages and can assist with choosing a college major or technical school or changing career paths.
According to a recent study done by Ohio State University, as many as 50-75% of undergraduate students change their career at least once before graduation. We highly encourage high school students to seek this service before applying to college or choosing a major.
The assessments used in our office include The Strong Interest Inventory and The Myers Briggs Type Indicator.
The Strong Interest Inventory: The goal of this assessment is to give insight into a person’s interests, so that they may have less difficulty in deciding on an appropriate career choice for themselves. You can learn more about the assessment here https://www.themyersbriggs.com/en-US/Products-and-Services/Strong
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality inventory is to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people’s lives. The essence of the theory is that much seemingly random variation in the behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment. You can learn more about the MBTI here https://www.myersbriggs.org/my-mbti-personality-type/mbti-basics/
