Elyn Palmer, MS, LPC

I am a mental health counselor with ten years of private practice experience and ten years’ experience in higher education and academics. As a native of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, I am dedicated to serving the families of this region.
My experiences as a counselor taught me that the topics clients bring into the therapeutic setting often guide the work we do together. I primarily utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach in therapy, but I enjoy using a variety of therapy styles including sand tray and art techniques.
In my practice I strive to create a safe environment for adults to explore issues of trust, identity, relationships, and other challenges. I work with my children and adolescents to improve their lives at school and at home. I like to collaborate with parents to find success for every student I see.
It is my goal for clients to leave therapy with tools geared toward self-care and personal success. My professional experiences as a university faculty member and administrator assist me in maintaining unique therapeutic relationships with college age clients. I work with children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 10-25) on issues like life changes, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and grief. Additionally, I am particularly passionate about working with children of high IQ due to my personal relationships with this exceptional population.
